putting Hudson to bed

So Jamie was putting Hudson to bed tonight and I was going to get some clinic work done (although I haven't started that, been blogging instead!). I went out to check on them and found them cuddled up on the couch. Guess they wore each other out!

yummy!!

I finally found a green vegetable that Hudson loves....pickles!!! :)

Blizzard

Well, they have been forecasting a blizzard here all week and although it did hit west of here (Pratt got 28 inches!) we don't even have an inch of snow here yet. So far all we got was ice! I hope my poor trees don't crack in half!

We are supposed to get up to a foot of snow here in Wichita but it just finally started snowing here about an hour ago - it was supposed to come during the night - so I doubt we get that much. But it is really coming down now so maybe we'll get a few inches. Looks like a good day to just stay at home and cuddle. For me and Hudson that is - Jamie was already going stir crazy at 9 am and he left to go on a little "ride". (Which actually means go to Starbucks to get coffee.). He took a shovel with him and stopped and helped a few cars dig out of the snow and ice...I'm hoping the basketball games this afternoon will keep him occupied but I doubt it will last all day before he has to get out again. He doesn't understand how I can go 3-4 days at a time without even leaving the house!

My birch tree in the front yard - and I about broke a leg trying to get down the front steps to take this picture - they are a solid sheet of ice!
The willow tree in the back. I hope this doesn't hurt all my trees - they were all starting to bud already since the weather had been so nice.

bike car

Last week when it was beautiful weather outside - unlike today where we are in the middle of a BLIZZARD! - Garret gave Hudson his bike car. (The bike "car" gets its name from Garret who was obsessed with cars when he was little. So everything that had wheels was considered a car - hence the bike car.)

Hudson was not real sure about it the first time we put him in, but he loved it the second time. The helmet was a little too big and he kept staring down at the wheels, which didn't help. Tyler's bike has handles on it for him to hold on to which he loved.

Unfortunately we haven't got to ride it again since the weather got cold again. But I am thinking we will be spending many evenings this summer riding it. Jamie and I are going ot have to buy some bikes so we can go riding together!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

So another week went by before he remembered he was figuring out how to "crawl". I think the problem was that we weren't enticing him with anything he wanted. I kept using toys, remotes, cell phones and I guess that isn't what he really wanted. Yesterday I used cheerios and he scooted all over the living room floor for them! Then Daddy got home and they played this game for 30 minutes - and Hudson fell right to sleep when I put him to bed. Daddy wore him out! Jamie better be careful what he uses as enticement though - you would think he would remember he has already lost 3 of his wedding rings...does he really want to add another to the list? :)

two front teeth

Hudson wanted to show you a picture of what he has been working SO hard on for the past month or so....bottom ones are in and the top two are just below the surface so I think they'll pop through any day now.

swimming

The hotel we stayed at had an indoor pool and this was Hudson's first time in a pool. He loved it! Besides splashing, his favorite things were standing on the steps and looking at the No Dive signs on the side of the pool. I guess since they are red they caught his eye. He'd see one and hoot and splash till we took him over to the side to touch it.

My camera fogged up when we first went in - but doesn't he look so cute in his suit?

He loved splashing around and watching the other kids in the pool. The first time my Mom went under the water and came back up he was pretty bewildered. I guess he didn't recognize her with her hair wet cause he gave her a strange look then grabbed her hair. Once he decided it was still her he thought it was funny.

Looking at the No Dive signs - so cool!

The second morning we went swimming Hudson got pretty tired. He laid down in my Mom's arms and she walked around the pool with him for several minutes!

Road Trip

Since it was spring break we took a little road trip to KC with my family. My Mom and Dad and sister Christin and Hudson and I drove up to KC Thursday and spent 2.5 days shopping! It was a lot of fun - for the girls anyway. Dad just kept looking for a TV to watch the basketball games but he didn't have a lot of luck and Hudson was just along for the ride, he didn't really care what we were doing.

Hudson did really well on the trip. He woke up a lot more than usual at night but I think that is probably to be expected being in a strange place and since we were all in the same room. Well, Christin slept on the floor in the bathroom cause she couldn't take mom and dad's snoring but I didn't think it was that bad! :)

Hudson rode the carousel at the Oak Park mall - which he enjoyed, but I think he had just as much fun standing on the outside and watching as he did riding. Actually, now that I think about it, I think he liked watching it better than riding. I had a hard time keeping him on top of the horse!

He threw a fit when we took him down off the luggage cart. He played up there the whole time we were packing up.

Stretching his arms and legs at the store. This table had a jewelry display on top of it and he kept shaking the entire table. I was worried he was going to knock all the jewelry off!

Hudson was enthralled with watching Christin do her makeup in the mornings.

Helping Christin pick out a few new tops.

Watching the carousel.

basement

Here you go Cecil. Finally posting pics of the glass in the cabinets! :)

Jamie purchased and installed the glass himself and did a good job. They look great.

And here's some more pictures of the basement now that we have furniture!

This is the furniture my parents bought for me when I was probably 13. It's has seen some use and many moves but it held up pretty well. My uncle painted it white for me to go better in the basement. I still need to get some new pulls for the drawers but the white looks really good with the blue paint and white woodwork.

Our new couch. The first one we bought wouldn't fit down the stairs so they movers had to take it back. So we found this one at another store and it is exactly like the first one we bought. But we measured it in the showroom and were sure it would fit down the stairs. WRONG! We finally ended up being able to get it in the window so we something to sit on!

beautiful weather

The weather has been beautiful this past week so we have been trying to spend lots of time outside. Hudson is getting his front teeth in so he's been fussy but not as bad as the first round, so I'm thankful for that.

Here's some pictures of us looking at the ducks and hanging out at Bradley Fair a few days ago. Hudson loves watching the ducks and these ducks are pretty tame (they're used to getting fed a lot) so they would walk right up to us. Hudson made his favorite "ooohhh" face at them several times! :)
Just chillin' in the stroller. He's started resting his feet up on the rail like that when we go on walks. I didn't catch it with the camera but a lot of times he'll cross his ankles too!

Yes, that's a big scratch on his forehead. Not sure what he does in there but evidently it gets a little wild when he cries it out in his crib. He seems to always have a scratch or bruise on his forehead.

tattoo

Jamie has started drawing "tattoos" on Hudson lately. The other day it was just a little heart on his foot but yesterday when I took off his onesie to get him dressed I found this one on his arm!

He wouldn't hold still for the picture but it says MOM and has a heart with an arrow through it. I thought it was cute!

Cruising

Here's a video of all the cruising around he is doing now. Sometimes it takes a little bit to get up the nerve to actually let go of one thing and move to the other but he's doing really good!

And yes - that's my dad sitting at the computer working on taxes. So when I say we're working on them - I really mean my dad is working on them while Hudson and I play on the floor around him. I just answer questions every once in a while! I was doing pretty good with it all till we got to the depreciation part - confusing!!

walking - kind of

When I put him down this afternoon he took off running behind his walker. But of course once I got the camera he wouldn't hardly even walk. But it's still cute - of course, I'm biased :)

taxes

Well, I don't really have a whole lot to say - except my dad and I are buried in taxes! Yuck!! We are working on them every afternoon (and yes, I just finished working on them now) - well, mostly him cause I am usually entertaining Hudson or putting him down for a nap - but we are making progress. We'll see if we make it without filing an extension!

Hudson is doing good. He has really started cruising around from different objects - like couch to chair to walker, etc. He has also started bending down to pick things up off the floor, which is cute. Today he was trying to reach his socks but he just couldn't quite make it! He is doing better about the "mommy hold me" all the time thing. He will at least play in the same room I am in now instead of me having to hold him - some of the time anyway. He is also doing much better with his sleeping. I think we might actually have the morning nap down but he is still fighting the afternoon one. He sleeps for 2-3 hours most mornings now, but I am still lucky to get 30-45 minutes in the afternoon. But the morning one is soooo long and soooo nice!

He will not eat anything but meat now, it seems like. And of course, sweet potatoes. But I am pretty sure too many sweet potatoes gives him gas, so I am trying to hold back on those. He won't even eat his pancakes anymore!! I made a new patch on Sunday and he took one bite and turned his nose up too them. he has also figured out that he can feed Zeus and Athena and he loves doing that. Today we were having banana bread for a snack and I tried to feed him on the floor in the office while we were working. Having him at the same level as the dogs was a mistake! He would take one bite, then let Zeus lick the next bite out of his hand, then he'd take a bite and back and forth...gross! He probably ate more dog slobber than banana bread!

Papa Bear and Gigi

furniture

So we bought some shelving and cabinets from Star Lumber back in November for the new laundry room. They finally delivered it on Thursday and it was too big to fit in the laundry room. :(

I have been getting rid of our junk using Craig's list lately, so I figured I'd give it a try. I've sold our TV, a king size mattress and box springs, and our ping pong table so far.

I sold the furniture the next day for $300 more than we bought it for. So it worked out pretty well! I think I am going to ask our friend to build some cabinets for the laundry room downstairs and the mud room upstairs with the money. Hopefully he says yes!

Here's Hudson enjoying the money we made :) I think he thinks I am going to spend it on him!!
