triplets??

We went out to eat Sunday for my littlest sister's 20th birthday (I can't believe she is that old!)and a guy came by our table and asked if we (my two sisters and I) were triplets!! At first I was insulted that my little sisters look just as old as I do but then my mom pointed out that maybe I look 20! Christin and Celeste look a lot more alike because of the straight hair and also since Christin's jaw surgery everyone thinks she looks more like Celeste.

washing the car

Jamie took Hudson out to help him with one of his favorite chores - washing the cars. Hudson evidently thought the car was clean enough to eat off of. Either that or he is giving that cute baby he sees a kiss! He loved playing in the water.

sleep

So I haven't posted about sleep in a while. Definitely not because it's going good and Hudson is napping 2 times a day and sleeping all night. More like because we are so frustrated with it we don't even want to talk about it. Hudson hasn't slept well since he was 6 weeks old and we keep going back and forth from crying it out to not crying it out to just holding him so he'll sleep to laying down with him and then crawling away once he's asleep and on and on and on. Maybe we haven't stuck with one thing long enough but after several weeks I get to the point I can't take the not sleeping anymore and try something new.

So several weeks ago we gave up on the crying it out method (again!) and decided to try the "no cry". And the first time I put him down that way he actually took a 1 hour nap! That was awesome. However, that night, he was up every 2 hours all night long. And he has continued to do that for the past 2.5 weeks now. He is kind of napping - as in sometimes it lasts 30 minutes, sometimes longer - twice he has actually napped for an hour and a half! - and sometimes it only lasts 5 minutes - but we are sticking with a very strict schedule and routine and I am proud to say that today I feel like it might be working!

This morning when I put him down for his first nap we started out reading books on the floor in his room. I was reading him a book and he actually rubbed his eyes, crawled into my lap and put his head down on my shoulder I then proceeded to wrap his blanket around him, sit down and rock him (which he has never let me do - I always have to stand and walk and bounce) and he fell asleep within 5 minutes. I put him down in his bed and it lasted for 30 minutes. Wish it was longer but he had pooped his diaper and I couldn't sleep with that smell either! :)

This afternoon he did the exact same thing and is still sleeping so far -it's only been 25 minutes so we'll see how long it lasts but MAYBE we are starting to see some progress. Now if we can just get him to go back to sleeping at night like he was before AND napping during the day - life will be WONDERFUL!

zoo

Aunt Christin, Papa and Hudson and I went to the zoo yesterday since the weather was so nice. But it was actually HOT! I had to buy Hudson a new hat in the gift shop cause the one I had taken for him didn't fit on his head anymore! And the sun was shining way too bright not to have his head covered. But his new hat is defintely cute!

It'sa my goal to take a picture of Hudson next to the orangutan every time we go to the zoo. Here are the pics we have so far:

Discovering the world - or at least his own backyard

Hudson LOVES the outdoors. The first thing he wants to do in the morning when he wakes up is go to our window in our bedroom and open the blinds so he can look outside. Then once we walk into the kitchen he points at the backdoor and wants to go out. It's been beatiful here - although already a little too warm! the last 2 days so we have spent the last 2 mornings hanging out in the backyard. He loves watching the sky and points at every bird and airplane that flies by. I've caught him eating dirt a few times too.

I think he's trying to tell me this feels a little dangerous - and he was right cause it eventually tipped over and he got a mouth full of mulch!

It's so weird to me how big he's gotten, but then when I take him outside how small he seems compared to everything outdoors. I left him standing by this tree and went across the yard to look at another tree and looked back and I could hardly see him standing there cause he's so tiny comparatively.

crawling - finally!

Hudson has started getting up on his knees to crawl around this week - and can push himself back up to a sitting position. Finally - at 11.5 months old I can officially say my son is crawling!

fun at the park with Daddy

Just another kid!

Why I shouldn't eat guacamole when I'm sleepy....

Dinner with Daddy

Hudson has got the pointing down pat. He points at everything now and says "oooohhh". He likes to point at the chef and butler decorations I have on the shelf in the kitchen while he eats. I usually just talk to him about them and point at them too but when Jamie is home he always gets them down and let's them "eat" with Hudson. Hudson loves it.

Pointing with both fingers at the same time! This is the first time I have seen him do that!

Yes, the chef is holding Hudson's plate. Jamies calls him Chef Boyardee and the other guy is Alfredo. He's holding a knife, which looks a little dangerous!

easter pics

We took the cousins to get their pictures taken in their Easter outfits. Of course I had to wake Hudson up from a nap to get to the appointment on time so he was a little out of it. He didn't smile much the whole time we were there. But this one turned out good cause all 3 were looking the same direction - hard to do with a 3 year old, almost 1 year old and 8 week old!

Easter pics

It was 45 degrees out and rained all day Easter Sunday. So I'm glad we got our practice easter egg hunt in cause we had to do ours indoors yesterday. Below are our family pics from Easter. Not sure what Hudson's deal was, guess he just wanted everyone to know he loves his mama!
(We took these pictures 2 hours apart and he grabbed me in both!)

Hudson has learned to point to our noses when we ask him - guess he was just showing off!

easter eggs

We dyed easter eggs this afternoon. Hudson really liked chewing on the food coloring bottles but other than that didn't really care what we were doing. He does like the colored eggs though. He says "ooohhh" and points at them.

We did a practice easter egg hunt in the front yard to teach him what to do tomorrow (and because it is only supposed to be 45 degrees with a 50% chance of rain tomorrow!) and he is ready to go. He liked walking around and trying to pick up the eggs - he had a hard time picking them up though because they were too slippery. He got one and put it in his mouth and the food coloring ran all over his face. Guess it wasn't quite dry yet. (That's cause Jamie dripped food coloring on them after I had dyed them the normal way - see the picture below, you can tell which ones he did.)

Hudson is definitely ready for the Easter Bunny!

Hudson is starting to learn to do so many new things - it's exciting to see him discover how to do something! He has started talking a lot (although yelling is probably a better description- he takes after his dad in that department) pointing at things, drinking from a straw, and signing "more" for more food this week. I don't have a video of him drinking from a straw yet, but I'll try to get one and post it soon. It's pretty cute - and he is pretty proud of it.

This video is him eating dinner the other day. It's pretty long but stick with it cause at the end is when he signs "more" for me a few times. He loves pasta and has learned to suck them up - which is noisy but cute!

first trip to the pet store

In an effort to keep Hudson awake inbetween his afternoon nap which he refused to take and bedtime, we went on his first trip to the pet store. He loved the fish - he kept trying to grab them through the glass. And he liked the birds, but sadly enough, his favorite seemed to be the mice! Eeeeww! Yyck. Gives me the creeps just looking at them. Luckily for me he couldn't see the frogs in their cages (since they weren't moving) - those are the worst!
