another of Hudson's favorite presents

The HUGE basketball Daddy got him! When he opened it he said "BIG ball. Shoot ball."

The conversation he had with Jamie this morning:

"Need to sit right here."
"Where's blanket?"
Need mote (remote)."
"Watch WordWorld."

computer problems

Note to self: when the warning message keeps flashing up saying you are almost out of disk space - do something about it!

I know I am slacking on getting all the Christmas videos and pics posted but here's my problem: my computer is completely out of memory or RAM or space on the hard drive or whatever it is and I can't load any more pics onto it till I get it fixed or get a new computer - we'll see which way we end up going. Sometimes I can get the pics uploaded but I can't do videos at all any more. It erased all my videos of us looking at Christmas lights the other night which I was very upset about. (Papa Cecil- you would be proud to know that every house we saw with lots of lights on it, Hudson would say "Papa's house?")

Now I can barely even get on the internet because there isn't any memory left! I can't get email any more either - they all just come in blank - no subject, no sender or body text! So if you have emailed me in the last few days I apologize - I am not ignoring you on purpose! Hope to get it fixed tomorrow and be back up soon - if not, I'll try to get to my mom's and get some more stuff posted. So in the meantime, please bear with us!

(one of) Hudson's favorite Christmas presents

And it wasn't even for him...I have a feeling this will be one of our main attractions come spring going down the driveway!

Christmas cookies

Christmas isn't complete without sugar cookies! Garret and Hudson got to decorate this year. Unfortunately we didn't have any Christmas cookie cutters so we improvised - with "angel wings", poinsettia flowers, and ornaments - and a few hearts too. The boys LOVED the sprinkles - poor Lesie had a lot of sprinkles on the floor when we left!

Go Browns!!

Jamie and his friend, Doug, went to the Chiefs vs. Browns game on Sunday (the tickets I bought him for Christmas). The game was at noon and they left our house at 5 am to get there early and tailgate! They took eggs, bacon and hashbrowns and had breakfast when they first got there. Then they watched the game and then grilled hamburgers as they waited for the parking lot to clear out. I was worried they would be the only ones in the parking lot at 8 am (when it opened) but there was already a long line and lots of people out tailgating when they got in. They had to pay $22 for parking!!! The Browns won the game - which Jamie was thrilled about. He wore every article of Browns clothing he owns (it was cold!) and sat in a section with only Chiefs fans. He cheered everytime the Browns did something good and the people behind him booed him the whole game! He said it was awesome!

Jamie and Doug had a bet going that whichever team won the other person had to put on their team gear for a picture. So Doug had to put on Jamie's Browns jersey after the game.

Bowling

Hudson recently started throwing balls at the walls downstairs so that he could then yell "boom" when they hit. So I came up with a different idea to try to save my walls from dents and scratches - bowling. Although I said he wasn't allowed to bowl again till he was 16 - this version is pretty safe. He enjoyed it, but it quickly became more fun to stack the cups then to knock them over.

Lil' Santa's

We got Hudson and Callista together for a little photo shoot in their Santa outfits. Neither one would sit still or look at the camera - but they still turned out cute!

Letter from Santa

Hudson got a letter from Santa in the mail today. He was pretty excited about it! (From the handwriting it appears that Nana Wilma is Santa's elf this year - thanks Nana Wilma!)

When mommy's away....

Daddy and Hudson play!! Jamie taught him all sorts of bad - i.e. messy - things to do while I was gone (shopping!!!). Now every time he goes in the kitchen he wants to get in the sink. And they had to show me the dangerous one when I got home!

Now I know my ABC's...

We have been working on our letters and Hudson has learned almost all of them now! Some of them he knows the actual letter but mostly he knows whose letter it is - M is for Mommy, D is for Daddy, etc. I honestly was surprised how quickly he picked it up. We started with just a few and then added more in as he learned them. I was shocked when this morning I asked him whose letter "J" was and he came up with Justin - I had been teaching him Jacob! Yesterday I added several new ones and he already had most of them memorized today! I added Z for Zeus this morning and he already knows it!

And for those of you who don't live in Wichita and therefore have no idea what a Wushock - the letter W - is - it's Wichita State's mascot. Hudson saw him at a volleyball game a few weeks ago and hasn't forgotten about it. He has been excited all week because tomorrow we are going to WSU to get him a wushock shirt (Actually a Christmas present but he won't remember by then, well, actually he might, but oh well!). If I ask him "Where are we going on Friday?" he says "WUSHOCK!!"

He's a funny guy

Even he thinks so! And he doesn't have some strange disease - that's green higlighter on his forehead. It's also all over my printer and the paper on my computer desk...

Weee!!

A few weeks ago Hudson learned to go down the slide on his tummy - feet first. Thanksgiving we went to the park with Garret and Garret showed him head first. Hudson thought that was the greatest - no hesitation, he just jumps right on and goes!

Early Christmas presents

Jamie and Hudson both got to open early Christmas presents on Sunday.

Hudson took his time getting the wrapping paper off and had a look of almost disgust on his face the whole time - plus would only touch the paper with one hand most of the time but he eventually got it all unwrapped and said "box". Guess I could have saved the money and just wrapped a box! But he loves playing with his Little People nativity set. He quickly learned the words "Joseph" "Baby Jesus" "Wiseman" and "Camel". The angel plays songs and that is probably his favorite part. Every time he looks at the set he runs over and pushes on her to make the music start.

And Jamie got to open his because if he waited till Christmas he would miss the Chiefs/Browns NFL game I bought him tickets for! He is a huge BROWNS fan (for unknown - even to himself- reasons) and this was his best chance of seeing them in person. I debated buying the tickets since neither team is any good - but figured maybe that will make it competitive!

And - I just have to mention that I am already almost done with all my Christmas shopping! Yeah!

Our Christmas trees

We made it home from Iowa Saturday evening and spent Sunday afternoon putting up our Christmas tree. Hudson's pretty much an expert now as this is the 3rd tree he has done so far this year! I bought him his own little tree in the hopes that he would play with his and leave my big tree alone. It's working - some! He likes the BIG balls on mommy and daddy's tree better than the ones on his but he has taken all the ornaments and star off of his several times today so he's figuring out which one is more fun to play with.
Unfortunately we did return home with colds - I thought I was getting one but had one afternoon of sneezing and that was it. Hudson, on the other hand, has had 3 days now of sneezing, runny nose and a cough- poor guy!

Hudson's shadow

It's REALLY beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

At least up here at Papa and Binga's! Hudson loves going to look at the Christmas lights - we've gone driving around 3 nights now just to look. The other night we were looking at some on a bank and Hudson was saying "Wow. Pretty. Lights. Orange. Green." And then he said "AWESOME!" It was really cute!.

Jamie did not inherite his intense dislike of putting up Christmas lights from his dad - here's their house:

The Christmas tree and nativity scene.

The front porch

The crosses in the backyard (Cecil made them from a dead tree) and the little trees on the right are for each of the grandchildren (there's 6 of them). Each star on the tree has a grandchild's name on it.

But for all his hardwork - Cecil cannot even compete with this guy!

We drove to see this house last night. Absolutely crazy. Every inch of their yard and house was covered with lights, candy canes, santas, reindeer and snowmen. This is only the front - the back looks just like it. You can actually get out and walk all the way around the house to look at everything. WOW.

Bathtime

We got to come up to Iowa to spend Thanksgiving with Jamie's family last weekend. And Hudson and I stayed to spend the week with Papa and Binga. Hudson had a great time playing wiht his cousins while they were here and is loving being the center of Papa and Binga's attention this week.
The kids all took a bath together the other night and Hudson "helped" Jacob get cleaned up!
