strawberries

I am not the only one that is happy that springtime means yummy fresh, ripe fruit again – especially strawberries!  Hudson has been devouring strawberries the last few weeks – but apparently he can’t even compete with Callista!

013

Evidently two strawberries weren’t enough so she took Hudson’s!

 014

I love his face in this one!

015

And her face in this one!  So innocent!

 016

Notice how he’s holding his strawberries pretty tight now. She isn’t gonna get ‘em this time!

 017

And Callista – still looking so sweet and innocent!

A little more sweetness:

Hudson pottied in his potty chair!

Although he was NOT happy about trying he did it!  For the last couple of weeks every time I have asked him if he wants to try to potty he says no.  Well, yesterday he woke up from his nap super crabby and I asked him if he wanted to potty in his potty chair.  He said no so I took him to change his diaper.  He threw a fit about that too so instead of changing him on his changing table – which I do 99.99% of the time at home – I thought I’d change it up a little and started changing him on our bed instead.  As I was taking the diaper off I asked again if he wanted to go potty in his potty chair and he just stares at me.  I look down and he’s pottying all over the bed!  So I picked him up and ran him to his potty chair and he continued to cry but then pottied in the chair!  So I’m jumping and dancing and singing about what a big boy he is and he continues the crying….

002

It wasn’t until I told him he could flush it in the big potty that he finally stopped!

005

And then he was a pretty HAPPY guy about being a BIG boy and pottying in his potty chair!

AND he pottied in his chair again tonight - twice!  Without the crying this time!

pretty boy

We aren’t sure if we will let Gigi watch Hudson for us anymore… He came home with his fingernails “pretty” the other night.  I think Jamie was mortified.  I left it on a whole entire day – since it was so “pretty”.  Jamie got the nail polish remover out as soon as he got home from work!

Here comes the bride….

Hudson went to his first wedding this evening.  On the way there I was telling him about Julie getting married and she would wear a pretty white dress, etc. etc.  Once we got there and the wedding started he kept asking “Where’s Mary?” I kept trying to explain Julie was getting MARRIED – there was no MARY but he just kept asking where Mary was!  He did like the flowergirls though! :)

Technically it was his second wedding I guess – we went to one when he was 3 weeks old but he doesn’t remember so much about that one.  Plus he didn’t get to try the punch and desserts like he did tonight.

024

That pink icing wouldn’t wipe off very easily – he had a pink mustache the rest of the evening!

031

But then we moved on to the chocolate fountain!032

And then he discovered punch!  035

Cheers!  036

funny things Hudson said yesterday

As we were driving in the car he was eating goldfish crackers from a little snackbowl.  He kept hitting himself in the head with the bowl and asking “Mommy, how’d that feel?”

Playing in the office he sits down and says “need to tie my shoes”.  Then looks down at his sock feet and asks “Where my shoes go?”

When I told him his cousin Callista was coming over to play this morning I asked “Will you play nice with her?”  He says “Yes, I won’t hit her.”  What a nice boy!

Chores

We have decided Hudson is old enough now to start earning his keep around here.  ;) So the other day when the sun was shining outside I put him to work.

 003 005

He was really interested in scooping poop although it was a little hard for him to do.  But he evidently enjoyed it cause now every time we go outside, guess what he wants to do?!?!  Lucky for him there is plenty of it!   Now he talks all the time about how Zeus poops in the grass.  Great – just what I want him to tell our visitors!  But maybe it will help in the potty training dept - we’ll see!

Oh yeah – thanks Gigi for the snow shovel – we can put it to good use year ‘round!

jump, jump, jump

The weather was so great yesterday we had a cook out and grilled pizzas (yes, grilled pizza, it was yummy) and roasted marshmallows for s’mores.  Hudson’s favorite part of the evening was a tie between the foosball table and the trampoline.  It was hard to pull him away from either one.

After his first bit of s’more he was too distracted by the sticky marshmallows on his hands to eat any more of it!

10 Random things

1.  A few nights ago Hudson woke up about 2 am and yelled “Mommy, booger my nose.”  A few minutes later he says “Mommy, booger gone.”  Enough said.

2.  Just in the last week Hudson seems to have grown into a little boy.  I kind of think it’s the change to short sleeve shirts – something about it just makes him look older and bigger.  Plus his hair is starting to get a little longer.

3.  He continues to do good with going to bed at night and naptimes are getting better.  Finally after 1 year, 21 months and 29 days I can say he is (kind of) a good sleeper!  Last Saturday he slept in till 10:15 am!!!

4.  His conversation skills continue to amaze me!  He has gotten to the point now that he can carry on a conversation with you and comes up with things to say all on his own, rather than repeating what we say to him or just phrases.  Case in point – a few days ago he was laying on the changing table getting his diaper changed and he starts telling Jamie “need adjustment.  need adjustment.  Your chiropractor.”

5. He has started throwing things – balls, toys, marbles, etc at people and we have been trying to crack down on that.  Three times today I have gotten on to him for throwing something.  I make him stop and look me in the eye and tell him not to do it.  Then I ask him, “what do you say?”  His response is a barely audible “thank you.”  I can’t help but laugh as I say, “no, i’m sorry.”

6.  A sad one for me – he has started calling me “mom” now instead of “mommy.”  I don’t like it and I keep correcting him but he continues to do so.  Most of the time I’m still “mommy” but several times a day it’s just “mom”.  Just makes him sound so old – or maybe it makes me sound old! – when I hear that.

7.  He only wants to eat Daddy’s cereal now for breakfast – Raisin Nut Bran.  Of course, the only thing he likes is the raisins in it so then Jamie is forced to eat a box of Nut Bran instead.  And he knows the difference if we try to just sneak regular raisins into the cereal.  He sets those aside on the counter and only eats the ones from the box.

8.  He has started saying “i love you” without prompting from us.  Normally he’ll repeat it if you say it to him but a few times lately he has just came up to me and told me “love you”.  Makes your heart melt!

9.  He has started talking on the phone a little bit.  Mostly only does it when the phone rings and I let him answer it. He doesn’t like it if I am already talking and try to give it to him. When he hears the “ding” my computer makes when an email comes in he comes running to me and says “email”!

10.  Last week he –accidentally – pottied in his potty chair!  Several times now he has sat on his potty chair and then stood up and pottied on the floor instead.  This time he just happened to be close enough that some got into the potty chair!  But this week he hasn’t even been interested in sitting on the potty.

this boy’s got moves!

Hudson has been practicing his basketball moves every day.  He is working on his ball handling skills a little – notice the “dribbling” and he has a pretty nice shot going already!  I taught him the “go team” huddle the other day and he loves doing that – especially at dinner for some reason.  Jamie also taught him “time out” and he puts his hands on his head and breathes out (like he’s trying to catch his breath) then goes and sits on the stairs and gets a drink of water.  I’m telling you we have a future NBA star in our midst!

this little light of mine

Hudson's newest favorite song. We play it on repeat in the car because it's the only song he wants to listen to. As soon as it's over he says "again". A blessed change from the VeggieTales theme song that we have been listening to -on repeat- for the past month!

Sunshine

A little monkey enjoying the sunshine!

img069_crop

In case you couldn’t tell the difference – that little monkey is ME when I was 2!!  I can’t get over the resemblance  - even the facial expressions!  It’s crazy.  Jamie would like me to point out here that Hudson does not look like a girl – so evidently I looked like a boy.  He does have more hair than I did at that age!
