powertools

I am now officially addicted to building furniture.  I just spent the past hour using Jamie’s powertools and I LOVED it!  Can’t show you yet what I made cause it isn’t finished but I have SO many other projects on my list now that I know I can use the saw!

Of course, Hudson doesn’t like it as much as I do. He covers his ears each time I cut and then decided he wanted to come inside.  I only had 3 cuts left so I let him go inside without me.  Finished my cuts and came in to find him with a mouth full of dog food!  yuck!

Enough said??

First thing this morning I took him in to potty (and he had a DRY diaper!!).  Boy, did he need to go!  Evidently it was wearing him out so he had to lean against the wall for some support.  And yes, he HAS to stand up when he potties – there is NO sitting down.  But the good news is he is getting pretty good with his aim!

singing songs

Hudson likes to talk on the computer to his Papa and Binga. Sometimes we have a hard time getting him to sit there for more htan a few minutes to talk.  But we discovered he likes to sing songs to them.  I was shocked the first time he did this at all the songs he knew!

Walking with DINOSAURS!!

All week Hudson has been so excited about going to see the dinosaurs and today the BIG day was finally here.  We got there about 20 minutes early and I bet between Garret and Hudson they asked at least 100 times when the dinosaurs were coming out!   But the finally did and it was worth the wait (and the $30 tickets!).  I thought the whole thing was pretty cool – it’s amazing how they created those dinosaurs.  You just had to ignore the whole evolution theory that the storyline was about – but I am sure every kid in there was much more interested in the dinosaurs than the story the narrator was telling!

Here is Garret and Hudson walking to the ARENA!  Yes, we actually paid money to go to something at the new arena.  However, Jamie would not go.  He says he will NEVER set foot in the arena (we voted against the sales tax increase to build it a few years ago, but obviously we were outnumbered!)  Tyler and I took the boys. Jamie says it’s okay for Hudson and I to go, just he will never attend.

The arena was nice – my favorite part was the fact that the escalators all were moving up when we got there and then they just reversed them to go down when the show was over.  Pretty smart!  This was definitely the kind of event to go to since it wasn’t even half full (Or wait, maybe that’s how ALL the events are since Wichita didn’t need another arena??? Just a thought…)  Parking wasn’t a problem, there weren’t any lines, it was nice.  The seats however – nosebleed.  Very high up, very narrow – very dangerous, if you ask me.  I was afraid Hudson would fall off my lap and fall all the way to the floor below!  Plus if someone on your row wanted out, EVERYONE in the row had to stand to let them walk by – no leg room at all!  In my personal opinion, they should have let us all move wherever we wanted to.  There were plenty of open seats all over the arena.  I bet 75% of the people  there were all sitting in the top section with us (cheapest tickets).

WHERE ARE THE DINOSAURS???

So that’s my 2 cents on the arena….now for the show!

I was worried that Hudson might get scared but he loved it.  He only jumped once when the mama T-Rex came out roaring – and I have to admit I think I jumped with him!  He was excited and talking through the whole thing…you’ll probably hear some of it on the video clip.  And, videotaping the show was not allowed so don’t tell!  I was trying more to get Hudson’s reactions than the show so I decided it was okay.  The first couple videos I shot of Hudson but then realized it was too dark so the screen was just black.  So I figured I might as well turn the camera around and get a little of the action!  IF you want to learn more about how they made the dinosaurs, you can check out their website here.

BIG boy bed

So Hudson has been doing SO well sleeping the past 2 months or so that I had starting thinking about switching his bed to the toddler bed.  He slept on one for naptime a few months ago at Papa and Binga’s and Papa and Gigi recently changed theirs and he is pretty proud of it.

022

Gigi changed hers about 2 weeks ago and every time we go over there the first thing he does is run back to his room yelling “my big boy bed”.

Unfortunately to convert our bed I have to buy a conversion kit – which are hard to find since the model we bought is no longer made.  So I was still debating what to do….when Hudson decided he wanted to go back to his old, BAD sleeping habits.  Ugghh!  He was doing SO good.  Bedtime I would sing Jesus Loves me 3-4 times and leave and never hear a peep from him till 11-12 hours later.  Earlier this week, he took a 3 hour nap – 3 days in a ROW!  It was amazing.  However, getting him down for those naps has become a challenge again.  Was taking 5 minutes of singing and patting his back and he was out.  This week it is back to taking 30-45 minutes just to get him to lay still and then he’s out.  He has had a lot of spankings and sitting in the corner time outs lately trying to get him to settle down for naptime.  I could tell the sitting in the corner thing wasn’t working when I threatened him with it yesterday.  His response: he sits up and starts cheering “sit in corner, sit in corner.” He probably said it 10 times before I could get him to stop. Needless to say he did NOT get to sit in the corner.

Wednesday morning – Hudson was up at 4 am – and didn’t go back to sleep till 7:15.  UGGHHH!  (And on top of that I have a  nasty cold that came out of nowhere.) And getting him to sleep at night – back to 1-2 hours of either singing him songs or listening to him screaming.  On a brighter note – his screaming has changed from crying to yelling “Mommy, open door.  Mommy, sing song.  Jesus loves me this I know.  Mommy, open Hudson door.  Mommy, need snack. Mommy, need to go in kitchen.”  Jamie and I at least get a small laugh out of hearing what he says. :) But just a small one – the last 2 months had been the best sleep we have had in the last 2 years!  VERY sad to see it go. And we are NOT switching to a toddler bed if this keeps up.

On a brighter note though – Hudson is doing very well with his ‘potty training’.  He has been using it 3-4 times a day, going each time we change his diaper and take him in to try.  He, of course, will only go standing up and has to dump it in the big potty himself, but the little potty dance he does in celebration is pretty cute!

letters

Hudson is getting good at writing some of his letters – mostly the letter H which he LOVES to write.  But he’s also got a few others he can do – or at least tries to do.

getting dirty

Hudson has been having SO MUCH FUN this last week playing outside.  The weather has been gorgeous, but windy, and he is outside every chance he gets.  Unfortunately, playing outside seems to be equated with getting dirty.  The boy had 17 – yes, 17! – pairs of pants or shorts in the laundry this week.  That’s only one week’s worth of laundry people.  (I’m not sure if I should be more shocked that he had 17 pairs in the laundry or just at the fact that he has more than 17 pairs of pants/shorts!)

Every time we come inside I have to change him cause he’s covered in chalk, paint, or just plain dirt.  But then we eat, rest, change a diaper or whatever and go right back out to get dirty again!!
