cousin’s reunion

Okay, I realize this was over a month ago but I just came across the pictures and realized I never posted them!   In late July we got the Stinemetz cousins (as many as could come) together for a little reunion.  We wanted to give all the 2nd generation cousins a chance to meet each other and play together.   We were able to reserve the clubhouse at Mimi Hyla’s condo and after a hot afternoon at our house we went swimming and ate dinner over there.   Then we went back to our house and put all the kids down and played a game Jamie invented…you all know how that goes!

This was a similar game to the one we played at my birthday party.  Someone wrote a name down on the post-it and then you had to stick it on your head so everyone else could see it and try to guess who the person was with 3 questions.  It was pretty impossible to do…but a few of us got some right!

practice run

We are going camping this weekend so we did a practice run of setting the tent up – to make sure we could do it in less than an hour’s time!!   Went pretty easy and Hudson loved having it up in the backyard.  He, however, did not like going out at night in it with the flashlights, so I am not sure how well the camping will go this weekend.  We’ll see.  He is very excited about going – just not going to be so excited once it gets dark.  But hopefully with the campfire and us our there it will be okay!

One of his favorite shows to watch is WordWorld.  When we told him we were going to set up the tent he said - “we need the letters.  two t’s”.  He didn’t get the e and n but I was impressed he knew we needed 2 t’s!  So we got his letters out so he could build a tent too!

Frere Jacques

picnic and popsicles

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous the last few days so Wednesday we went on a picnic lunch.  The highlight of the picnic was most definitely the popsicle he got to have!   He’s had two or three in his lifetime, but definitely never the whole popsicle at once, just for him.  He loved it!   Then we did a little exploring…including a little potty break in the creek (which was probably the second favorite highlight of the picnic!).

flips, dives and bellyflops

This boy LOVES to swim.  He’d stay at the pool all day if I’d let him!  He’s become really good at going under the water and even enjoys doing it now!

potty-trained

Yep.  You read that right.  I am now officially declaring Hudson potty-trained.  He has been doing SO good for the past two weeks!  He even stays dry during naps and for 4-5 nights in a row stayed dry all night!  One morning he woke up and I thought he was sick cause of the way he was yelling for me.  I went in to get him and asked what was wrong and he says “I have to go potty!”  Poor guy – couldn’t hold it much longer!  I think he has had only 1 accident.  And that was probably my fault because I was working on the computer and he was calling me over and over from downstairs and I ignored it thinking he just wouldn’t play by himself.  After a few minutes he quit hollering for me.  Learned my lesson.  When he calls – go check to see what he wants :)

He has been wearing his big boy underwear everywhere we go –  and hasn’t had any accidents lately.  He tells us when he needs to go.   He’s even been pooping in the potty chair for the last week!  He actually likes it because he gets a sucker for that!  He holds the sucker the whole time he’s trying to go because it’s his “decoration”.  He means inspiration but he can’t remember that word!

So YEAH! for Hudson – he is most definitely a BIG boy now!

SURPRISE!

My 30th birthday was almost a month ago and I am just now getting around to blogging about the SURPRISE party Jamie threw for me!  It’s been a busy summer – too much playing to do, not enough time to blog!  But here are some pics from the evening:

A few days after my birthday Jamie started complaining about this Rotary event on Friday night that we had to go to.  He complained about it for days and how much he hated being the Rotary president cause it was too much work.  I totally fell for it all.  Called mom and had her watch Hudson for the evening and got all dressed up to go to dinner with  a whole bunch of Rotary people I didn’t know.  When we got to the restaurant I was confused to see our friends Doug and Kerry there (through the window) because they weren’t in Rotary.  Then when I insisted to the hostess that we were there for a party for the Rotary group – and she didn’t have anything under that name  - it all clicked!

The t-shirt Jamie and Doug made especially for me to wear.  Notice the wiggly eyes on the tummy for the baby.  A little weird!  They put glitter all over the shirt and it was all over me, Jamie’s truck and the restaurant by the end of the night!

Jamie and Doug spent weeks planning the evening and the entertainment for the night was a game for me to play.  Everyone there was “in character” and I had to guess who they were using only 4 questions.

1. are you male or female?

2. are you from the movies, television or neither?

3.  are you from the past, present or future?

4.  what is  your favorite thing to do?

Now a few of the people helped me out immensely by actually dressing for the part – thanks Nate (aka MacGyver!)

Others  didn’t, but I think I knew all of them except for 2.  But for some reason I was punished (had to wear another part of the old lady costume) after each person, even when I guessed it right!  Jamie said they spent too much time planning all of this for me not to have to wear it all!
