Happy Thanksgiving!!

Someone is ready to go to see Papa and Binga!!
(And evidently doesn't want to forget his toothbrush!)

Litlle Christmas Tree

We went out to my brother's house this morning and cut down a few little Christmas trees. He has a field behind his house he is going to clear out and it was filled with small - and a few big - evergreens so we went out and sawed a few down.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

Yesterday I took Garret and Hudson to Mimi's house to decorate her Christmas tree. As soon as we got there Garret said "Ok, where's the tree I am going to cut down?" We had to explain to him that we were only decorating this tree - not cutting one down - although we are going tomorrow morning to cut down Christmas trees so he'll get to do that too! Hudson did about as well as I predicted. He loved the "balls" and just kept throwing them - but mostly he threw them on the tree so he kind of got it. He kept tearing the hook part out of them though - much to Garret's chagrin.

Garret quickly figured out that Hudson could not touch the breakable ornaments so every ornament I picked out he deemed to be "breakable" and took charge. But Hudson didn't mind - he just pulled them off the tree once Garret turned his back! They both loved the tinsel and the tree actually turned out very good.

The cat -Ruger - loved the Christmas tree box so the boys played with teh box and cat for quite awhile before we actually started decorating the tree.

Hudson's 1st Basketball Game

We went to the Friends/Central Christian men's basketball game last night with Christin. I thought Hudson would LOVE watching the boy's play basketball but the only thing he wanted to do was get down there and play himself! He just kept saying "need a ball" 'need a ball" over and over. He and Garret did have some fun running across the bleachers and playing on the court during halftime. But mostly Hudson was just very disappointed that he couldn't get down there and play with the big boys!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

At our house anyways - we put up our lights yesterday afternoon! I wanted to get them up when the weather was nice so that Jamie had no excuses! Jamie does not take after his dad in the putting up Christmas lights thing - Jamie thinks it could be skipped and I disagree - especially when Hudson will enjoy them so much this year!
We had to go buy new lights cause 6 of the 8 strands we used 2 years ago (He did get to skip lights last year so NO excuse this year!) weren't working. Hudson liked watching Daddy up on the roof and he loves looking at the pretty lights! Just wait till he we put up our Christmas tree - not sure how I will keep him away from all of those "balls"!

Up High!

Giving Athena a bath

Poor Athena- he'll probably want to give her a bath every day now!

playdate

On Wednesday Hudson's friend Nathan came over and spent the morning playing with Hudson. Nathan is only 10 days older than Hudson and they are about the same size but Nathan has 2 older brothers so he plays quite a bit rougher (as you'll see at the end of the video!). He also taught Hudson a few bad ideas like jumping on the couch, blowing your nose into your hand (gross!) and closing the doors but I think Hudson has forgotten everything except the shutting the doors thing. He keeps getting himself locked in rooms now.

no use crying over spilled milk...

Hopefully he doesn't remember this tomorrow at breakfast!

What happened to the cow?

A tragic event in the life of a - very questioning and persistent - one and a half year old.

There used to be a picture of a cow on the spoon in case you don't get that part....

If he's this tired....

WHY WON'T HE SLEEP?!?!?! Maybe I should just start leaving him in his highchair for naps?

Hi Sheep!

Hudson and I went to zoo school and learned about frogs (my least favorite animal in the world - yuck!). Hudson enjoyed it except he got a little rough with one of the other little girls there. When she first walked in the door he went right up to her and hugged her. But then later when they were looking at the frogs and she kept getting in front of him and he swung at her a few times. But then turned around the next time and gave her another hug!
It was another gorgeous day outside so we spent the rest of the morning looking at the animals. Hudson got to walk around in the petting zoo area with the goats and sheep. This was the first time he has gotten to walk through that area where you can actually touch the animals and he loved it. We only had one minor altercation with a goose trying to eat Hudson's pants.

Smashing Pumpkins

Now that Halloween is over Jamie thought it would be a good idea to show Hudson what to do with his pumpkin...

a short reprieve

Yesterday Hudson slept in till 7:45 am, then took a one hour and 45 minute nap at noon and then went to bed at 8:15 pm. It was the best day of my life. This morning he woke up at 5 am (as he has been doing the past 2 weeks) and so far, has only taken a 20 minute nap (story of his life). Uggghhhh!

more leaves!!!

Hudson couldn't resist the HUGE pile of leaves Aunt Lesie had raked up before we came over...lots of fun! I had put him in his camo in honor of the dead deer cause I knew Uncle Nate would like it - but it turned out pretty cute for the leaf pictures...

Run, Run and Jump!

The only way we could finally convince him to stop playing in the leaves at Celeste's house was that we could go over and play in the leaves at Gigi's and Papa's. That worked...

So Papa Bear got out his rake and joined in the fun too!

It's raining leaves!!!

He loved poking the leaves with this stick and seeing the leaves stuck on the stick. Unfortunately he couldn't get them to stick very well...but he didn't seem to mind!

Dog pile!

Searching for Hudson's shoe...we played this game again and again and again...

Caution: Deer Crossing

My brother-in-law Nate hit a deer in my sister's car on Friday night. No one was injured (including the red tail hawk he had in the backseat who flopped around quite a bit). Nate's an avid hunter so he was disappointed it was only a six point buck but he threw it up on the tow truck and took it home with him anyways! Unfortunatel y I didn't get a copy of the picture of him and his brother posing with it in front of the smashed up car - they have the hunter glare down and look so proud of their "kill".
We went over Sunday afternoon to pick Celeste up (since she is without a car for the immediate future) and the deer head was laying on the floor of the garage. Hudson took one look at it and said "Uh-oh. Deer dead."

There's still deer fur stuck in the door handle!

Christin's biggest fan

Hudson loves going to watch Aunt Christin play volleyball...sadly her last game for us to watch was on Saturday so we won't get to see more till next year.

speaking sentences

Hudson is starting to put 3-4 words together and make sentences! This week he has started understanding the concept of "me" and "I" and started using those words in sentences. He has been saying things like "off of me" when he wanted the crumbs washed off his hands, "house see me" when he saw a picture of a house on our calendar (This one threw me for a little bit till I figured out he was saying "I see a house"!), "read me" when he wants us to read him a book and this morning he told Jamie "diaper off of me" when he was getting him dressed!
He also says phrases like "there it is", "I see it" and "hiding in there", and "I found it". (We play a lot of hide and seek around here!)
He also, like every other toddler, has learned the concept of "NO" and uses it more and more often. His answer to every question is "no" even if it's something he should want to say yes to!

Trick or Treat!

Hudson was a basketball player for halloween this year. I bought him a sweatband for his head - unfortunately they only came in one size fits all so it looks a little more like a bandage than a sweatband but it does have a Nike swoosh on it so that helped. Jamie helped me make his basketball basket - we cut the sides off of a mini basketball and left a handle on top. Hudson loves carrying it around although he was a little upset when he saw Jamie cutting it up. He kept saying "fix it, fix it". We only went trick or treating at one neighbors house but Hudson had fun and got plenty of candy! For mommy and daddy of course - I was surprised he even knew the word "candy" but as soon as they put some in his basket he started saying "candy".

We also got him an afro as part of the costume but he was NOT having anything to do with it!

He even played basketball with his candy!

The reason why I decided he should be a basketball player for halloween:

He would play this ALL day if we let him!
