master bath makeover

I am still not finished with the bedroom but the master bath is complete so I’ll give you a little peak at that:

BEFORE:  I had the ugliest color of blue on the walls- hated it since the day we painted it – and this cabinet to hold all my stuff – but since the bathroom is so small the only place to put this cabinet was under the towel rack, leaving no room to hang towels.  So instead I used the towel rack as a necklace holder.  Sold the cabinet on craig’s list and took down the towel rack and puttied up all the holes….

I actually already had the black shower curtain in storage so I pulled it out and got new white and black towels and the new necklace holder and new towel rack (which Jamie had actually given me a GC to Target for last Mother’s Day and I have been saving all this time!) – I am loving it!

So now I am seriously considering painting the vanity black to go with the rest of the decor.  What do you think?  Stupid, crazy idea to paint natural wood cause you can never go back or go for it?

dyeing Easter eggs

Hudson had a good time coloring Easter eggs on Saturday.  I got the dye ready and set him up on the counter.  He picks up the first egg and squishes it as hard as he can in his hands.  Then says “it hatched!”

So then we were down to 11 eggs.  He picks up the next egg and proceeds to start tapping it on the rim of the mug – like he sees mommy do.  Luckily that one survived with just some cracks, as did the rest of them.  He seemed to prefer the plopping technique over the more gentle use a spoon to lower them into the water one.

Our Easter SURPRISE!

Every Easter my Gammy gives all the grand and great grandkids a plastic easter egg with our names on it filled with candy and some money.  The “old” adults (sorry - not to be confused with all the grandkids who are now adults too!)  hide the eggs and we have to find our own egg.  Some of them get hidden pretty good – like Justin’s this year – took him forever to find his this year!  But anyways, this year we had a new game to play with our eggs.  Everyone’s eggs had an extra piece of paper with a number and a letter on it.  My Aunt Wilma then brought out this board and we all had to put our letter in the corresponding place on the board….then we figured out the surprise!

They were very tricky having Wilma do the game.  As soon as she put the board up I thought someone was pregnant but since she said it was her game I couldn’t figure it out!  But I did catch on – MUCH – quicker than the new grandparents!!!!  Hilarious how long it took them to realize what it meant!

Redecorating

Three or four years ago I had this great Pottery Barn inspired idea to decorate our master bedroom like a beach cottage.  I bought the Benjamin Moore paint color that Pottery Barn used in its magazine and we painted the bedroom.  Unfortunately, I am one of those kind of people that starts lots of projects and then doesn’t finish them.  This was one of them.  The only other thing I ever did was buy a duvet cover and a few pillows.  Never put anything up on the walls or the shelf or did any other decorating.

So lately I have been getting that itch to do some decorating – mostly because I spend WAY too much time looking at decorating blogs and seeing lots of great ideas.  But the blue was starting to make me feel a little blue…

So yesterday it was goodbye Pottery Barn blue… 014

Hello gray!   Just the first step in my master bedroom/bathroom makeover.  You’ll have to wait to see more (but imagine black and white with a splash of yellow)    027

And I AM going to finish it this time.  I have to since I told all of you I was doing it.  Can’t go back now!

My mom and sisters came over to help me with the painting.  Celeste and Christin’s job was basically to entertain Hudson while Mom and I painted.  I think Hudson ended up doing most of the entertaining though:

all by myself

027

That’s Hudson newest phrase.  He wants to buckle in his car seat “all by myself”, walk up and down the stairs “all by myself”, put on his sunglasses “all by myself” and even try to put on his shoes “all by myself”.

Some other funny things he has said lately:

He has taken to calling me “honey” now instead of mom!  That is what Jamie always calls me and a few times lately Hudson has been in another part of the house and I hear him yell “HONEY.”

He has gotten pretty good at talking on the phone now and likes to call people.  Today he called aunt Christin and helped Daddy play an April Fools joke on her.   When she answered the phone he said “April Fools!”.

Yesterday he said the sun was too bright and he needed his sunglasses.  Jamie asked him where they were and Hudson said “in my purse.”

Getting into the bath the other night I asked him if the water was too hot – he replied “ no, it’s nice and dry.”

And last night he pottied in his potty chair again – standing up!  Oh boy!!  Need to work on his aim a little!

This week I have noticed he is starting to get really LOUD.  I think he likes to hear his voice and he has been doing a lot more yelling and noise making than usual.  Turning out more and more like his daddy every day!
