triplets??

We went out to eat Sunday for my littlest sister's 20th birthday (I can't believe she is that old!)and a guy came by our table and asked if we (my two sisters and I) were triplets!! At first I was insulted that my little sisters look just as old as I do but then my mom pointed out that maybe I look 20! Christin and Celeste look a lot more alike because of the straight hair and also since Christin's jaw surgery everyone thinks she looks more like Celeste.

washing the car

Jamie took Hudson out to help him with one of his favorite chores - washing the cars. Hudson evidently thought the car was clean enough to eat off of. Either that or he is giving that cute baby he sees a kiss! He loved playing in the water.

sleep

So I haven't posted about sleep in a while. Definitely not because it's going good and Hudson is napping 2 times a day and sleeping all night. More like because we are so frustrated with it we don't even want to talk about it. Hudson hasn't slept well since he was 6 weeks old and we keep going back and forth from crying it out to not crying it out to just holding him so he'll sleep to laying down with him and then crawling away once he's asleep and on and on and on. Maybe we haven't stuck with one thing long enough but after several weeks I get to the point I can't take the not sleeping anymore and try something new.

So several weeks ago we gave up on the crying it out method (again!) and decided to try the "no cry". And the first time I put him down that way he actually took a 1 hour nap! That was awesome. However, that night, he was up every 2 hours all night long. And he has continued to do that for the past 2.5 weeks now. He is kind of napping - as in sometimes it lasts 30 minutes, sometimes longer - twice he has actually napped for an hour and a half! - and sometimes it only lasts 5 minutes - but we are sticking with a very strict schedule and routine and I am proud to say that today I feel like it might be working!

This morning when I put him down for his first nap we started out reading books on the floor in his room. I was reading him a book and he actually rubbed his eyes, crawled into my lap and put his head down on my shoulder I then proceeded to wrap his blanket around him, sit down and rock him (which he has never let me do - I always have to stand and walk and bounce) and he fell asleep within 5 minutes. I put him down in his bed and it lasted for 30 minutes. Wish it was longer but he had pooped his diaper and I couldn't sleep with that smell either! :)

This afternoon he did the exact same thing and is still sleeping so far -it's only been 25 minutes so we'll see how long it lasts but MAYBE we are starting to see some progress. Now if we can just get him to go back to sleeping at night like he was before AND napping during the day - life will be WONDERFUL!

zoo

Aunt Christin, Papa and Hudson and I went to the zoo yesterday since the weather was so nice. But it was actually HOT! I had to buy Hudson a new hat in the gift shop cause the one I had taken for him didn't fit on his head anymore! And the sun was shining way too bright not to have his head covered. But his new hat is defintely cute!

It'sa my goal to take a picture of Hudson next to the orangutan every time we go to the zoo. Here are the pics we have so far:

Discovering the world - or at least his own backyard

Hudson LOVES the outdoors. The first thing he wants to do in the morning when he wakes up is go to our window in our bedroom and open the blinds so he can look outside. Then once we walk into the kitchen he points at the backdoor and wants to go out. It's been beatiful here - although already a little too warm! the last 2 days so we have spent the last 2 mornings hanging out in the backyard. He loves watching the sky and points at every bird and airplane that flies by. I've caught him eating dirt a few times too.

I think he's trying to tell me this feels a little dangerous - and he was right cause it eventually tipped over and he got a mouth full of mulch!

It's so weird to me how big he's gotten, but then when I take him outside how small he seems compared to everything outdoors. I left him standing by this tree and went across the yard to look at another tree and looked back and I could hardly see him standing there cause he's so tiny comparatively.

crawling - finally!

Hudson has started getting up on his knees to crawl around this week - and can push himself back up to a sitting position. Finally - at 11.5 months old I can officially say my son is crawling!
