Hi Sheep!

Hudson and I went to zoo school and learned about frogs (my least favorite animal in the world - yuck!). Hudson enjoyed it except he got a little rough with one of the other little girls there. When she first walked in the door he went right up to her and hugged her. But then later when they were looking at the frogs and she kept getting in front of him and he swung at her a few times. But then turned around the next time and gave her another hug!
It was another gorgeous day outside so we spent the rest of the morning looking at the animals. Hudson got to walk around in the petting zoo area with the goats and sheep. This was the first time he has gotten to walk through that area where you can actually touch the animals and he loved it. We only had one minor altercation with a goose trying to eat Hudson's pants.

BUGS!

Last week we took Hudson to the Wee Wiggler class at the zoo. It was all about bugs. I was a little disappointed that they only brought out 2 real bugs for the class to look at. I was expecting more hands on kind of stuff. The rest of the class was just playing with toys and reading a book. But I guess with little kids and small bugs you have to be careful! Hudson still had a good time. He's signed up to go again next month to the session on frogs. I think I will send Jamie and him to that one - I HATE frogs!

My son was the only child who thought it was more fun to throw all the paper shreds on the floor instead of playing with the bugs hiding in the paper!

Checking out the Madagascar hissing cockroaches

This one was some kind of centipede - Hudson REALLY wanted to hold it!

trip to the zoo

In case you need a little reassurance (like I did!) that Hudson is okay after his accident I took him to the zoo on Friday and he was just fine! This was his first trip since he started walking so he was able to do a whole lot more and had a lot more fun. Plus we went with my mom's 3 year old preschool class so there were kids everywhere which he enjoyed!

Holding hands with "his classmates". He wanted GiGi the whole time we were there and they started walking off so she took his hand and he just turned to the little girl next to him and held out his hand to her. So sweet!

The statue I take his picture with everytime we go so I can see how much he's grown.

Not so sure when the lion got so close. He was running for safety.

But he loved feeding the giraffe.

He wasn't so sure about the tigers so close up either.

He also like feeding the sheep.

For a little bit. Then he got to where he wanted me to do it so he kept saying "Me Me Me." Which appears to actually mean "You You You."

wet n' wild

Friday's during June and July are Wet N' Wild days at the zoo. The fire department comes and sprays water on all the kids. It's quite a hit. The water makes a huge puddle but the kids just run and play. The water was cold and you get drenched when the hose hits you - especially the big one up top. I tried to just stay on the edges but I still got soaked! Hudson loved the water and kept begging someone to take him out but Garret was more interested in the fire truck. We did finally get him to get out and play in the water a little bit. He also informed us that he does not like animals, he only likes firetrucks when we tried to tear him away to go look at some of the exhibits. But his Aunt Sissa pulled a few strings and got him a "ride" on the fire truck, so he was pretty happy.

Garret and Aunt "Sissa". She's the one who coordinates this whole shebang! Lots of fun!

It's a zoo!

6 kids and 7 adults - it was a zoo at our house Sunday -Tuesday while the family stayed with us. We had lots of fun though. We went to the zoo on Monday (Thanks Aunt Melissa for the passes!) and had a great time. Luckily it wasn't ridiculously hot out although everyone was ready to go after a few hours. But we took a picnic lunch and saw almost every exhibit. here's a few pics from the zoo:

I was trying to take a picture of the fish but I ended up getting the reflection of Hudson making a fish face instead.

zoo

Aunt Christin, Papa and Hudson and I went to the zoo yesterday since the weather was so nice. But it was actually HOT! I had to buy Hudson a new hat in the gift shop cause the one I had taken for him didn't fit on his head anymore! And the sun was shining way too bright not to have his head covered. But his new hat is defintely cute!

It'sa my goal to take a picture of Hudson next to the orangutan every time we go to the zoo. Here are the pics we have so far:

trip to the zoo

It was beautiful here yesterday - 60 degrees! - so we went to the zoo. Most of the animals were still pretty sleepy - it is winter after all, guess they're in hibernation mode - but a few of them were up and active. Hudson had a great time although I don't think he really saw very many of the animals since they were mostly just laying out in the sunshine and not moving around.

He did see the giraffes. They came right over to us and looked at us for a while so I know he could see them. And the peacocks just wander around the zoo and he noticed them too. I am pretty sure he saw the gorillas and elephants too but his absolute favorite was....the Canadian Geese. Yeah, the same ones we see in our own backyard. Go figure! Some of the geese were in a fight - I think a male was being a little territorial - so it was causing quite a ruckus so that got his attention!

We were there almost 2 hours and Hudson was asleep before we even got to the gift shop on our way out...and then he slept for 2 hours!! So it really wore him out!

Trying to get him to look at the animals but he was looking everywhere else instead!

Ummm....Mom...not too sure about this guy!!

I guess he's okay!! But hurry!

This was where he saw the geese fighting - the highlight of the day!

Couldn't get Hudson to look at me but Jamie definitely has the model pose going on!

Giddy up!!

By the waterfall in the jungle. Hudson liked the jungle quite a bit - lots of colors, birds and fish - and the waterfall of course!
